Love Heals!

“The greatest healing therapy is friendship and love.” Hubert Humphrey

As Kim says, “I’m finding people are walking around and not feeling very appreciated or loved whether it’s with our kids or in our families or at work.” Like cracked glass, we can feel broken at times. We want to be put back together again and feel whole. We can heal our relationships and Kim shows us the way.

This video highlights Kim’s brave story. She shared words of affirmation and appreciation with not one or two but twelve people in her extended family! Can you imagine?

Kim stepped out in unconditional love because she felt strongly about helping each person in her immediate and extended family ‘find their voice’. Look at how Kim lights up as she describes how everyone reacted to her and everyone become closer.

If you or anyone you know comes from a family that felt broken, you know what a courageous story this is. Here’s to stopping the cycle of chaos and sharing unconditional love. Thank you Kim for your courageous efforts to be the ‘linchpin of love’ in your family.

“Love does a lot of healing good.” ~Kim Smith

Spirit of Love is Always Here

Deep within each of us is a desire to love and to be loved. So, how are you expressing your love?

IMG_2336
Love can be expressed in a myriad of ways and when we share it, others feel more fulfilled. Think for a moment about these expressions of love; seeing the smile of a baby, feeling the caress of a loved one, sitting with a friend who listens attentively with her ears, eyes and heart, or sharing a meal with friends who truly understand us.

One of the most precious ways I feel love over and over again is by reading small handwritten notes that contain the love of each of my family members. For the past 15 years family and friends have written notes back and forth at Christmas time and I have every single one of them tucked away in special places. Some are in my forever ‘Christmas Love Box’, some are tucked away in my top drawer of a desk and other treasured keepsakes sit amongst my most valuable gems in a jewelry box.

Do you know what is awesome about these Love Notes? I can pull them out at any time and read heartfelt messages written by my husband, children, Mom, Dad, sister, and friends. I so enjoy finding the notes and reading them over and over again. Each time I read a note it transports me to another time and place and let’s me relive the spirit of love. The spirit of love is always here as close as a memory and a love note.

Why Celebrate Christmas in July?

So, why are we celebrating ‘Christmas in July’? Are we crazy? Well, maybe a little, but there’s also a much deeper reason.

We celebrate the Spirit of Christmas in July because it reminds us of the love of Christ and gives us time to reconnect with family. We can start the ‘Christmas Love Box’ tradition when our lives are a little less hectic. It’s fun and brings everyone closer together!

Here’s what the Blake family has to say about the Christmas Love Box tradition. I hope you find it inspiring. We sure do.

Love of Family, Not of Gifts.
By: Mrs. Blake

For the Blake family, Christmas was both a treat and an extra special blessing of love and commitment with our first ‘Christmas Love Box’. While I must say we were a bit skeptical of the perceived power and blessings in store for us, each of us was definitely impacted and thrilled by the end of the day.

When we received the ‘Christmas Love Box’ package, each member of our family was asked to participate by presenting kind thoughts to everyone else. I was amazed by their willingness to engage in the process (must be trust of their Nana)! With lots of love, humor, respect and heart felt love; everyone wrote individual love notes to other family members and were (amazingly so) willing to read them aloud.

The tears, love and gift of the real purpose of Christmas took front stage . . . how can we forget the birth of Christ and His saving grace!!!

The best of the best was from my husband. . . who is not a gift/materialistic kind of guy who said: ‘WOW, finally, we remember Christmas for what it’s all about . . . LOVE of Family and not of gifts.”

So our question to you is, “Why not celebrate Christmas in July?”

Let’s share more love – all year long.

A Great Gift

Christmas Love BoxWe’ve been meeting with companies, churches and non-profit groups lately. They are exploring Christmas Love Boxes to give as gifts to employees, friends and clients. It’s exciting to see all the ways people are planning to use them.

Here are just a few ideas:

– Gifts for employees and their families.
– A feedback tool to have their clients write notes about service.
– An interactive event for Christmas parties.
– A retreat exercise to open communication amongst team members.

We’re thrilled to know the Christmas Love Box will bring people closer together with more understanding and love.

Try this ‘Love Challenge’. This exercise promotes an outpouring of love and healing.

Step 1: Think of someone who could use some loving. Maybe it’s a friend, a sister or brother or a difficult child.

Step 2: Close your eyes & send the other person love surrounded in bright light from your heart to their heart.

Step 3: See the light return to you and then go back to other person again. Repeat this until you have light illuminating both of you.

Step 4: Say, “The love in me honors the spirit of love in you.”

Christmas Love Box
Some days I get overcome with emotion. Today is one of those days. I’m reflecting on the outpouring of people LOVING each other. You see, as the creator of the Christmas love box I get to see, hear and feel love every day. In a big way.

During the past few days I have seen many people generously sharing their time and money to support children in a shelter and military families. Strangers helping strangers out of the goodness of their hearts.

I had no idea when I begin this journey that hearts would open like the ocean & we would fall more in love with our brothers and sisters every day.

There has also been a dark side. The bitterness of separation, brokenness, & pain in families.

As we know, love is bittersweet.

From my seat, I see a lot more sweet. And I thank God that love always ultimately wins.
